China Glaze Party Hearty over Maybelline Minty

So I know that New Years Eve is literally right around the corner but I'm still in the Christmas mood and I'm still trying to wear my Christmas manis while it still socially acceptable. I was sad at how little I wore Party Hearty. I was really looking forward to this coming out and when I finally got it, I think I only wore it 5 times maybe. I just had to wear it once more before the Christmas season was over. I guess this is my last official Christmas mani of the year cause I tomorrow is NYE and I'm goin for the BLING!!
I have to say, I'm really sad to see the holiday season end. This has always been my favorite time of the year and I'm always sad to see the Christmas/Holiday season end. If it were up to me, it would be December every month :0). I am however very happy to see 2010 go. This has probably been the worst year for my family and I, especially health wise. So on a sad note, the holiday season is almost over and I start school Monday but on a happy note, I'm happy for a new year and a fresh start and I graduate in June! Tomorrow's post will probably be very quick so I want to wish you all a Happy New Year now. Hope you all have fun.. and be safe!

OPI Ali's Big Break

OPI Ali's Big Break is from this year's Holiday Burlesque collection. It's a medium red with very subtle pink shimmer. Honestly, I don't like this. I didn't like it in the swatches I saw, in the bottle, and I don't like it on my nails. I'm home with my mom for the holidays so I only packed so many polishes to bring home. When I was packing I knew I needed lots of glittery reds and I figured why not bring this one along. Well this is the last glitter red that I packed to be worn and it's my least favorite. I just don't like the pink shimmer in it I guess, it makes the polish itself look pink and odd. Plus, theres not enough shimmer for me, I find it quite boring. Oh well.
On a side note, as many of you may have noticed, the pictures are no longer working on the blog. Last night right before I went to sleep I noticed that the pictures were no longer loading correctly because I exceeded my bandwidth on Photobucket, which is the site I use to upload all the pictures shown on this blog. I am currently fixing it and it's taking much longer than I had hoped it would take. I am re-saving everything back on my computer from my Photobucket account and trying to re-upload everything onto the blog. I'm really sorry about this inconvenience, I guess there's always gonna be bumps in the road when you're a new blogger and trying to learn the tricks of the trade. Hopefully everything will be back to normal tomorrow.

OPI Smitten With Mittens

OPI Smitten With Mittens is from last year's winter Holiday Wishes collection. It's a lot like Dear Santa but a deeper cranberry red as opposed to Dear Santa which is a true red. Smitten With Mittens is has gold fleck glitter which is easy seen in the bottle but looks red on the nail. Love this polish for the holidays. I'm on a red glitter kick right now and this one if one of my all time favorites!

By the way, I'm listening to Christmas music as I write this. Please tell me I'm not the only one who still wants to listen to music after the holiday is over? I think I'll listen to it up until New Years Eve :0)

Philosophy Eggnog 3-in-1

Winner, winner, chicken dinner!! This is by far the best Philosophy 3-in-1 so far!! I got this yesterday morning from my brother for Christmas. I actually knew I was getting it because I picked it out a couple of weeks ago at Marshalls and asked him to buy it for me, and since he loves me, he did :0). Do I have to tell you again that I am in love with eggnog? It's basically my favorite drink ever; I anticipate all year long the day this delicious and decadent drink arrives in my store's grocery aisle. As soon as I saw this in Marshalls, I knew it had to be mine. I didn't have high hopes for it as a shampoo since the other three Philosophy 3-in-1s failed miserably so I honestly didn't even try it as a shampoo. Buuuuutttt, this was so thick and creamy and a body wash, it's not even funny. With the same amount of product as I used with the other 3-in-1s, this Eggnog 3-in-1 lathered up so much better and was way creamier. And the smell!! The smell!! Eggnog heaven I tell you. If you love eggnog, you need this. The smell was so creamy, and thick, and strong, and creamy, and sweet, and a nutmeg-y.. and creamy. I think I need to go back to Marshalls and see if they have any more left cause I want backups!

Hope you all had a lovely Christmas and got what you wished for :0)

China Glaze Party Hearty

Wanting to wear Party Heaty for Christmas but don't know what to layer it over? I have just a few ideas for you! I didn't end up wearing Party Hearty as much as I had hoped to.. I wanted to try it once alone and once over white, gold, and silver but none of those happened. I do however have some other combo ideas you might like..
Over my White Christmas mani (Orly Gumdrop)
Over Color Club Magic Attraction
Over BI Pretty In Pink
Over Essie Mint Candy Apple
Over Red Holo No Name Snowman
I think my favorite combo was over Color Club Magic Attraction. Hope this gives you a few ideas :)

I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas...

Good morning! It's 3 am and I can't sleep, what else is new? This falling asleep late, waking up at odd hours of the morning, not sleeping at all thing.. it's becoming a pattern for me. I'm watching the Santa Clause right now. What better way to spend the day before Christmas Eve? Sleeping possibly but yaknow.. that doesn't really seem like a possibility with me right now. Moving on.. the week long storm that hit So Cal seems like it's finally over, I hope. I like rain and all, just not when it keeps me up all night like it did yesterday night. Too bad it wasn't colder so that that rain could've turned into snow. I've always dreamed of having a white Christmas but San Diego weather doesn't permit so I just have to pretend. Here's my version of a white Christmas. I used Orly Gumdrop, NYC Scandalous Blue Glitter, China Glaze Fairy Dust, Orly Shine Konaded snowflakes (which you can barely see, if at all), and Wet N Wild French White Creme Konaded Snowflakes.

Are you going to have a white Christmas? Can I live vicariously through you please? :0)

Guest Blogger: My Best Friend Kim

Hey all! Today my BFF (or as well call each other, PFL [pal for life]) Kim is sharing a Christmas mani with you! Here's Kim:

HALLLLOOOOOO here is my pre christmas mani...
This was awhile ago, Dori did her oh so cute snow man (which she does every year) and I as a newbie/busy mom decided to use my free time being creative and painting penguins on my nails (cuz they looked a lot easier than snowmen teehee)
This is where I got the idea. I actually saw this last year so this year I HAD to do it. I used a bunch of LA Colors Art Deco nail art polishes and the heart I filled in with my Jelly Apple Essie red and the red glitter on top is the art deco.
They look hard but were actually very easy. Painting with my left hand however my penguins came out kinda funny. I called them my emo punk rock penguin band lol. These are super cute and easy to do so everyone should try them!!! I hope everyone has a very merry Christmas and stay warm! :)

OPI The Show Must Go On!

OPI The Show Must Go On! from this year's Holiday Burlesque. This one was a very surprising favorite. I love red for the holiday season but this one stands out cause it's like no other polish that I own. It's a shimmery red foil with a hint of pink in it and has a slight gold duochrome. This was 3 coats for perfect application. As you can see, I only have a mini bottle of this cause I bought the Tiny Teasers mini set but this one is just so gorgeous, I think I'm gonna need to buy a full size bottle before it's not around anymore.

Hope you have a lovely Tuesday!

Suave Seasonals Peppermint Bliss

Looking for a cheap last minute gift?! Look no further! Suave Peppermint Bliss Shimmer Body wash sells for less than $2 at Wal*Mart and is my all time favorite body wash! This body wash is creamy, moisturizing, lathers well, and smells like sweet peppermint. I am a huge fan of peppermint in general and I love anything that smells like it. In fact, all fall and winter long my HG fragrance is Twisted Peppermint from Bath & Body Works, and I swear Peppermint is a dead on dupe. The best thing is, you get the amazing smell for way cheaper! The only thing bad about this body wash is that it's limited edition. I grabbed two bottles of this body wash at Wal*Mart last year and I went through one bottle in a snap. This summer I found this at Big Lots! for $1.50 and bought four bottles. I've seen it again this year at Wal*Mart along with four other seasonal scents so if you find it and like it, stock up! This is my HG body wash so I'm probably gonna go back and pick up a few more bottles as back ups just in case they decide to not bring this back next holiday season. *corsses fingers*

Christmas Snowman

Hello readers! Any of you own any of these cute lil snowmen polishes from Rite Aid?.. the ones by Blue Cross? Well none of the colors really appealed to me but the bottles are too gosh darn cute to pass up so I had to get at least one and this frosty red snowman with tiny holo glitter was the lucky winner that got to come home with me!
And to make him even more festive I added China Glaze Party Heart on top! Woop woop!
A Christmas party on my nails? Yes please!!

Philosophy Gingerbread 3-in-1

I knew this collection was too good to be true! Philosophy Gingerbread 3-in-1 is the dud of the collection! I think you all can tell by now I love everything about the holidays. I am a huge fan of anything that tastes or smells like gingerbread. In fact, I am eating gingerbread flavored yogurt right now as I write this review (limited edition for the holidays, Lucerne brand bought at Vons, in case you're interested ;] ). I was expecting a delicious, sweet, yet spicy gingerbread smell in my shower when I used this and unfortunately, I was greatly disappointed in more ways that one. First off I don't even know how to comment on the smell of this product because I'm not even sure there is one. No sweet, no spice, not anything nice. I kid you not, I took the whole top off and shoved my nose in the bottle and still couldn't smell anything. Now for the lather, neither of the other two 3-in-1's in this collection were very good at lathering and foaming up as a shampoo so I wasn't expecting much for this one either. However, Gingerbread 3-in-1 didn't later at all as a shampoo, and barely at all for a body wash. As a shampoo it was almost as if I had think honey in my hair (what the hell??) and when I used it as a body wash, I found myself having to open the bottle up a second time to use more product. I didn't quite use twice as much product for this 3-in-1 as I did the other two but I came pretty close. I hate to even review this cause I feel like I sound like such a Negative Ned but, what's a girl to do? Anyways, I love the Cinnamon Buns and Pumpkin Spice Muffin 3-in-1's so at least this collection wasn't a total loss. For now I'll enjoy my gingerbread in a yogurt cup rather than in my shower. :0)

Hope you had a fantastic weekend! Did you finish all your holiday shopping or are you gonna be out Christmas Eve night as all the shops are closing up? lol

Christmas Nails

Can you believe there's only a week left until Christmas?! By this time next next week I will be sitting under my tree with my family opening gifts. Or possibly we'll still be eating our prefect Christmas breakfast (now that we're all adults my mom insists that Christmas morning breakfast come before presents, not after) consisting of the most amazing glazed upside down sticky buns (I'll make sure to share pictures!!) and Lil' Smokies. Yum, yum, yum!! But with only one week left until Christmas, I'm scrambling to crank out as many Christmas manis as possible. Christmas only comes once a year, and since I'm a huge fan of the season, I want to go all out in every way possible.. including nails! Here's my Christmas nails for today, I was going to wait to show them tomorrow but I'm too excited about them to resist! I got off work late last night and stayed up til 1:00 doing these. I think my lack of sleep was worth it :0)
Left hand: Santa's Hat, Gingerbread Man, Christmas Tree, Candy Cane
Right Hand: Ice Skate, Christmas Present, Rudolph, Snowman
And for my thumbs I was at a bit of a loss as to what to do, so I just put China Glaze Party Hearty on top!
I actually really like how Party Hearty looks over Color Club Magic Attraction (the base color I used here), I think I'm gonna have to do a full mani like this.. it's so sparkly and festive and I love how every color glitter in Party Hearty shows up over Magic Attraction. What other colors do you all like Party Hearty over? Anyone else do any fun Christmas nail art?

Hope you have a wonderful Saturday!

OPI Show It & Glow It

Happy Friday! I'm on a glitter kick lately!! Today I have for you OPI Show It & Glow It from this year's Winter/Holiday Burlesque. Show It & Glow It is a clear base filled with tones of glitter. The majority of the glitter is fuchsia purple followed by purple but there's also a bit of green ,orange, red yellow and blue. It took three coats for this polish to be opaque and get rid of any VNL (visible nail line). I really like this color a lot. When the Burlesque collection first came out I was completely underwhelmed because I felt like since there were so many glitters, OPI had aimed for quantity rather than quality when it came to making the glitters. Well I ended up with half the collection (this, Simmer & Shimmer, and the Tiny Burlesques) and I'm not disappointed so far. Yay for glitter during the holidays!!!

Hope you have a great Friday!

Gingerbread Men

Good morning! I've been trying to be creative when it comes to Christmas nails.. I'm not very experienced when it comes to nail art but with all the fun ideas for Christmas nail art, I figure what better time to practice :0). This was Color Club Enchanted Holiday topped with two coats of Sinful All About You. The Gingerbread men were OPI Ginger Bells!, They white was Wet N Wild French White Creme, the bow ties were Zoya Veruschka, and the gum drop buttons were OPI Dear Santa.
The sun is shining and it's a beautiful day :0)

OPI Merry Midnight

OPI Merry Midnight is from last year's Holiday Wishes Collection. Merry Midnight is a deep warm plum purple jelly with red opalescent flakies as well as smaller crushed red/blue/silver micro-flakie-glitter. This polish rocks. It's definitely not a traditional Christmas color but every time I look at this I can't help but think "..as visions of sugarplums danced in their heads.." :0)

Color Club Enchanted Holiday

Three posts in a day! I'm on a roll! Either that or I don't have a life.. one or the other. Anyways, we only have 11 days left until Christmas so I'm going to try to shove as much Christmas and holiday related stuff into this blog as I possibly can. Here is the mini collection that Color Club released this holiday season entitled Enchanted. The collection consists of Snowflakes, Magic Elf, Wish List Red, and Enchanted Holiday and also came with a sheet of cute little decals.
Snowflakes is a clear base chock-full of medium, small, and micro iridescent glitter. This polish was so thick and goopey I only needed one coat. If my nails weren't so stained, I'd like this as is but since the orangeyness of my nails underneath is a distraction from how gorgeous this polish is, I think I'd prefer this polish layered over something.. a shimmery light blue, purple, or white maybe :)
Magic Elf is a bright shimmery foil lime green with a very strong yellow-gold duochrome flash. This isn't your typical Christmas green which is kinda cool. I really like how foil-y this polish looks but it's pretty sheer and took three coats. I think this would look really pretty layered over a dark green or black.
Wish List Red is a bright Chrsitmasy- red jelly packed with medium sized red glitter. This was opaque in two coats but it does need two thick coats of top coat in order to be smooth otherwise it just looks bumpy, gritty, and doesn't sparkle to its full potential.
Enchanted Holiday is a clear base full of random shaped small and medium sized light gold glitter. I love the different sizes of glitter.. they give this polish a really nice feel. Again like ChG 5 Golden Rings, this gold feels really light and angelic to me.. so pretty for the holiday season. This was two coats and it came out fairly opaque, though 3 coats might have been better. Like Wish List Red, 2 coats of top coat would probably be better than 1 for a smooth finish.
Overall, I really like this set. I think Enchanted Holiday is my favorite followed by Snowflakes. Wish List Red is pretty but there's so many other similar reds out there like ChG Ruby Pumps. As for Magic Elf, it's pretty, just not my cup of tea. I bought this set from TransDesign.
